All about me:
I used this in the first lesson with 1 and 2 ESO, and also with 5 and 6 of primary. I edited the sheet according to level, and both versions can be found below. I started this lesson by asking them to fill in the questions, and then we thought about what questions we could ask to get the answers shown. For primary students I gave them a bit more help with this part. We then asked the questions as a question chain around the class, and then pupils stood up and did a mingling activity where they had to ask each other. They then sat back down and told me three things about their classmates. This practises question words and coverting first person answers into the third person.

Film Worksheet:
I used this worksheet with 1st ESO (age 13). I began the lesson by asking the kids what their favourite film was, and what genres of films they could think of. The sheet includes a question answering section about a film seen recently, after which the children had to write a short film review. The last part of the activity involved group work to invent a film, and then a presentation in front of the class.
Television Worksheet:
I used this worksheet with 1 and 2 ESO. Pretty much the same concept as the film worksheet, students answer questions about television, and I used a question chain to get them to ask each other the questions. I also started this lesson by asking the students what channels and programmes they could think of, and stressing the difference. Then there is a person Bingo to complete, and then group work to invent a TV channel, followed by a presentation.

New Words:
I used this worksheet with 4 ESO (age 15/16). It looks at how new words are created in languages; borrowing from other languages, mixing two words.. If you have a lower ability class you can probably remove one or two of the exercises, or do it over two lessons.

House Swap:
This lesson explains the concept of swapping your home for someone else's to get free accommodation while one holiday. This concept was seen in the film "The Holiday", so you could show a clip of this. I started the class by asking what types of places people could live in (mansion, castle, boat, treehouse..) and writing them on the board. Then I handed out the sheet below, which contains an advert for a house swap website. I explained the concept, and encouraged the students to think of their dream home wherever they wanted in the world. There is a profile to fill in and then students ask each other questions about their homes in a mingling exercise. They then find someone to swap with. I encouraged them to ask questions to at least 3/4 other students, even if they liked the first one. Students then sit down and discuss which house they chose and why.

This lesson focuses on self image. I started by asking people how we can change they way we look. With my older class, some of them have tattoos and piercings, which they willing showed me. Some I didn't want to see :/ Anyway, after the lead in, I handed out the sheet and asked them to answer the first questions. Then I showed this powerpoint with images of celebrity tattoos and piercings, and asked their opinion. We then discussed the answers to the questions. For the final task, I showed some images of typically 'ugly' people and asked them to imagine they were image consultants. They had to discuss in pairs how they would change one of the three people's image.

Mobile Phones and Texting:
I used this lesson for 1 and 2 ESO, and it focuses on text abbreviations in English. First students answered questions about what they use their phone for, and discussed this as a class. Then they had to guess text abbreviations in pairs. After this there is a phone conversation to put in order, which we then role played in pairs. For the final part of the sheet they had to role play a conversation of their choice in front of the class.

New Year:
A lesson for the first class back after Christmas. Looks at the most common NY Resolutions in the UK and asks the students what their resolutions for the new year are. The students then have to think about what steps they can take to achieve these resolutions. I also teamed this with a person bingo related to resolutions.

Photos:
A lesson that focuses on how we can describe a photo. For this class, I asked pupils to send me one of their favourite photos by email, and supplemented these with some of my own holiday photos. First pupils have to answer some questions about photos, which we asked to the class in a question chain. Then, I gave them some typical questions about photos, where they had to fill in the question word. They then later used these questions to ask me and other pupils about our photos.

Rich:
For this lesson, I encouraged the children to imagine it was the year 2035 and they were billionaires. First they answered questions about how they became rich and what they would buy (best answer: "Miley Cyrus' Wrecking Ball"), they then had to fill in a profile about their new life. Then, in pairs, one student takes role of journalist, and the other as rich person. They ask questions on the sheet and invent their own, and then present to the class. As homework, they can write up the interview.

Royal Family:
A lesson to raise awareness of the British Royal Family. I first showed a picture of the royal family tree, and explained the main people in it. This was followed by a multiple choice quiz, which we then corrected together. The next part of the exercise was statements about the Royal Family, to be discussed in pairs. This was a good exercise to practise vocabulary for agreeing or disagreeing. We then chose two statements and split the class, and then held a class discussion using the new vocabulary.
